DORSCH
#1 in my opinion.
This is my favorite spot to spend a Sunday afternoon and in my opinion, one of the coolest beaches on island.
It is a favorite among locals and you will see us there with our kids, grills, dogs and coolers.
It is right next to Sand Castles / Cottages By the Sea in Frederiksted, so a great spot to hang out after brunch at Beachside Cafe.
CANE BAY
Cane Bay is a great family beach. The beach is sandy and the waves are gentle to moderate.
There is generally enough surf for body boarding, but also a calmer area for the kids and snorkeling.
A popular weekend hangout, you will often see families there grilling and relaxing under a tree.
Also the location of the famous Cane Bay Wall, it is a popular dive site.
The Cane Bay Wall start at a depth of 30-40 feet and drops to over 3,200 feet.
There are 3 restaurant/bars there as well as bathroom accommodations.
To get to Cane Bay, head west from Christiansted on Northside Rd.
Take a right onto North Shore Rd and follow that along the coast to Cane Bay…about 10 minutes.
You will need to take a right at Rowdy Joe’s Northshore Eatery and then you are almost there.
Weekdays are a great time if you don’t care for crowds.
This is one beach that WILL be packed on cruise ship days.
SANDY POINT
Sandy Point is probably one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.
Endless white sand and turquoise waters.
This is a turtle nesting site so it is not open all the time.
The refuge is only open to the public from 10:00am to 4:00pm on Saturdays and Sundays and is closed at all other times.
It is closed April 1 – September 1 during turtle nesting season in order to protect turtle nests and hatchlings.
It is also against the law to drive anything down into the sand.
To get to Sandy Point, follow Melvin Evans Rt 66 west to the refuge.
RAINBOW BEACH
Besides the white sand beach and clear blue water, there is just lots to do at Rainbow Beach.
Located just north of Frederiksted, it is close to the shops and dining in town but has a lot of it’s own right there.
Rhythms at Rainbow Beach is a great place for a bite to eat or a cold drink.
West End Water Sports has jet ski rentals, paddle board rentals and more.
There is beach volleyball and lots of other fun activity happening at Rainbow Beach.
The sandy bottom beach is great for snorkeling, swimming or just floating around with a cold one !
Weekdays are a great time if you don’t care for crowds.
This is one beach that WILL be packed on weekends.
JACK & ISAAC
Alas, a local’s only secret no more…
Jack and Isaac is probably the most beautiful, usually secluded and private beach on St Croix.
It is on the easternmost tip of the island and is accessible only by foot.
White sand beach and clear blue water stretch on and on.
The hike to Isaac Bay is about 15 minutes each way.
The trail begins at a small parking area right before Point Udall.
It is an easy hike since the terrain is pretty level and just a gently sloping grade all the way.
At the bottom are steps leading down to the white sand beach.
Bring your snorkel gear for some amazing underwater scenery.
The sandy bottom shoreline is great for swimming.
It is advisable to leave nothing of value in your car, doors unlocked and windows open
The parking area is remote and unattended cars can appear an easy target.
SMUGGLERS COVE
Here’s a great hidden gem on the East End..
A little hard to find, it’s generally pretty private.
Locals know about it, so you’ll see some people there on the weekends.
Tucked down a dirt road, this perfect white sand beach has gentle waves and lots of shade trees just off the beach.
It’s a perfect spot to spend the day with the grill going and a cooler full of drinks.
To find this beach, go like you are going to Cramer Park or Point Udall.
IMMEDIATELY after you turn off of either East End or South Shore Rd toward Point Udall, look to your left for the dirt road leading down into the trees.
CRESCENT BEACH
Crescent Beach is generally a very private beach.
It is accessible only by foot and is a neighborhood beach.
You will seldom see more than a couple people out on this beach.
The waves are a little rougher than other areas, but a great place to play in the surf.
You will find soft white sand, sandy bottom clear blue water and some shade trees along the beach to get out of the sun.
This beach is on the East End and is accessed though the Estate North Grapetree road.
Turn in at the stone pillar with the “C” on it and follow down to the beach.
You will make a right, head to the end and park.
You walk BETWEEN the houses along the property line.
Please do not walk across people’s property, this is a residential area and private lots.
CRAMER’S PARK
Cramer Park is another great spot for a get together with family and friends.
This large park sits on a beautiful while sand beach just perfect for swimming or floating in the sun.
There are picnic tables, grills and shaded areas for those who would rather stay out of the sun.
Bathroom facilities are provided.
Pavillions are available for comfortable ,shaded dining.
To get to Cramer Park, head east from Christiansted
Where East End Rd meets South Shore road at the “horseshoe turn”, you will take the single road that continues east towards Point Udall.
